KENT, Ohio – Kent State University student-athletes are inviting the Kent State community and beyond to participate in Team IMPACT's annual All In 5k on October 20, from anywhere.
This nationwide event brings the community together for a common cause — raising critical funds to reach more kids and teams who can benefit from its unique program. As a campus partner, Kent State Athletics has a goal to raise $2,000.
"Supporting the 5k for Team IMPACT means more than just participating in a race; it's about honoring the memory of kids like Kaycee, whose strength brought our team closer together.", said Kent State women's basketball junior and campus ambassador Dionna Gray. "Being part of Team IMPACT has shown us the importance of putting smiles on kids' faces and reminded us to look at the bigger picture in life. These relationships truly change lives, not just for the kids, but for everyone involved."
Supporters are encouraged to run, walk, or roll to make an IMPACT. Give $5 or more to move 5K for Team IMPACT. Be All in. Those interested in donating and or participating in the 5k can click HERE or scan the QR code above.
"Being part of the Team IMPACT Fellowship Program has been a truly rewarding experience.", added Golden Flash football graduate student and campus ambassador Cameron Golden. "Connecting with these incredible kids has shown me the power of support and community, and it's been life-changing for all of us. The bonds we've built go beyond the game, and I'm grateful for every moment. "
Kent State Athletics has welcomed several Team IMPACT members to its program with recent matches in football, men's basketball, gymnastics, women's basketball and women's soccer.
ABOUT TEAM IMPACT
Team IMPACT is the only U.S. nonprofit that tackles the emotional trauma and social isolation experienced by children facing serious and chronic illnesses by matching them with a college athletic team. The two-year therapeutic program complements a child's medical treatments, allowing the child to develop relationships and skills that help them complete the full circle of healing. Through participation in Team IMPACT's clinically informed program, children experience a true sense of belonging, resulting in increased empowerment, normalization, health promotion, and resilience.
Founded in 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 2,100 children with 700+ colleges and universities in 49 states, impacting more than 60,000 student athletes.
Team IMPACT has more than 1,200 teams across the country waiting to be matched with children, ages 5-16, who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening or chronic illness and who could benefit from becoming a member of the team. For more information, please visit www.teamimpact.org.
