Flashes Fall to Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Golden Flashes football team dropped their second MAC road contest of the season on Saturday afternoon to the Western Michigan Broncos.
It was all Western Michigan for most of the first thirty minutes as the Broncos put up 38 unanswered points via four touchdowns and a field goal. Despite the deficit, the Flashes kept battling as Tommy Ulatowski found Luke Floriea with 13 seconds left in the first half for an 18-yard touchdown pass getting Kent State on the board before the break.
Western Michigan added another touchdown late in the third quarter. The Golden Flashes responded early in the fourth as Ulatowski found freshman wide receiver Jay Jay Etheridge to for a 16-yard touchdown pass. WMU added their final touchdown on the ground. Kent State scored their final touchdown through the air in the closing seconds as Ulatowski found graduate student tight end Conner Muldowney in the back of the endzone. WMU then ran out the clock for the 52-21 win.
Kent State's final two touchdown grabs were career firsts for Etheridge and Muldowney. Ulatowski remained solid through the air completing 12 passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns. Ky Thomas led the rushing attack picking up 62 yards on 15 carries. On the defensive side of the ball, Mason Woods led the Flashes in tackles with seven solo on the day. Safety Tevin Tucker was second in tackles with six.
Kent State will now begin preparation for Midweek #MACtion play. Next up for the Flashes will be Ohio at home on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
