KENT - The Golden Flashes football team dropped their first game of Midweek MACtion on Wednesday night to the Ohio Bobcats 41-0.
Coinciding with several stalled drives by Kent State, Ohio put 10 points on the board in the first quarter. The Bobcats added 10 more to double the lead prior to the break. Freshman quarterback Ruel Tomlinson was able to find Ky Thomas and Luke Floriea for some first half yardage. OU added a trio of touchdowns in the second half with a kickoff return, punt return and through the air.
Kent State junior safety Josh Baka had a career high 18 tackles including 12 solo tackles. He has 48 tackles on the season with 33 being solo. Sophomore safety Tevin Tucker also had double-digit tackles with 10 on the night. Eight of those were on his own. Thomas led the Flashes in rushing picking up 65 yards on 15 carries. Tomlinson completed eight passes for 62 yards in his first career game. Chrishon McCray hauled in three passes for 28 yards, and Floriea three for 16 yards.
Kent State will continue Midweek MACtion play. Next up for the Flashes will be a road trip to Miami University on Nov. 13. Kickoff against the Redhawks is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
