Schaffer Leads Flashes in MAC Preseason Rankings

KENT, OHIO- Blake Schaffer has been chosen as the pre-season favorite at 197 pounds in the Mid-American Conference's annual pre-season poll.

Schaffer is the Golden Flashes' top-ranked wrestling in the pre-season poll. Schaffer is coming off a 26-11season that ended with a third-place finish at the MAC Championships.

The Canton, Ohio native is one of two returning MAC placers. Aaron Ferguson placed sixth and is ranked 7^th at 157 lbs. in the preseason poll.

Other top ranked wrestlers for the Golden Flashes include Nico Calello, and Jordan Decatur. Calello coming off a 13-11 season is ranked 6^th at 125 lbs. Decatur is ranked 6^th at 133 lbs.

The Golden Flashes are ranked 11^th overall in the preseason poll. Kent State will open the 2024-25 on the road with a pair of duals on November 3^rd against Maryland and Bucknell in College Park, MD. Wrestling starts at 12:00 pm and will be streamed on BTN+.
