
Men’s Golf Announces First Signing of 2025 Class

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State men's golf team has announced the signing of Liam Curtis as part of the 2025 freshman class.
Curtis is a Kent native, where he attended Theodore Roosevelt High School. Throughout his high school career, he was a three-time suburban player of the year, earning first-team all-state honors in 2024 and second-team all-state honors in 2023. Additionally, Curtis recorded a second-place finish in the 2024 Ohio state championship. He concluded his 2024 season with seven medalist finishes and a scoring average of 71.3.
Liam is the son of Kent State Hall-of-Famer Ben Curtis, who earned three All-American selections playing for the Flashes from 1997-2000 before a decorated professional career which was highlighted by a victory at the 2003 British Open Championship. Liam's mother, Candace Curtis, was also a four-year member of the Kent State women's golf team.
"We are so excited to add such a talented player to the Kent State program, especially one that grew up here in Kent," head coach Jon Mills said. "He has worked very hard to establish himself as one of the best players in the state of Ohio and I expect him to bring that same work ethic to the team."
