
Flashes Fall to Rockets to Open Final Volleyball Weekend

KENT, Ohio โ Kent State lost to visiting Toledo, 3-0 (23-25, 17-25, 22-25), at the M.A.C. Center on Friday.
The Golden Flashes (2-25, 1-16 MAC) were led by junior Kendall White, who recorded 24 assists, 14 digs and four kills. Junior Mackenzie McGuire totaled a team-high nine kills.
Seniors Tylee Fuller and Anna Shoemake were major defensive contributors. Fuller tallied a season-high 14 digs and Shoemake tied her career-high with six total blocks.
How it Happenedโฆ
ย ย ย Set 1 (23-25): Kent State played from ahead nearly the entire set and led 22-18 on a kill by Kendall White. Toledo then went ahead with a 6-0 run that was brought to an end on a kill by Liliana Mechura. The Rockets were able to get a kill on the next point to take the opening set.
ย ย ย Set 2 (17-25): The Flashes fell behind 5-1 to start and got within two points at 12-10, but Toledo countered with a 6-1 run that built separation.
ย ย ย Set 3 (22-25): A serving run by Greta Bolognini that included a pair of aces ignited a 6-0 run that gave Kent State its only lead of the set, 14-13. The Rockets won the next three points before the Flashes evened it at 16-16 on a kill by Karina Salinas. Toledo then pulled away with a 5-0 run.
Up Next for the Flashes
Kent State will battle Toledo again at the M.A.C. Center on Saturday in the season finale slated for 4 p.m.
