
Postseason Play Begins as Soccer Hosts Miami Sunday

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State soccer team returns to the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Sunday, Nov 3, when it hosts Miami at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The quarterfinal match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Dane Richardson and Miles Garrison on the call.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes (8-6-3, 5-4-2 MAC) win their third straight at Dix Stadium and clinch the fourth seed in the Mid-American Conference tournament while the Falcons (7-7-3, 4-5-2 MAC) clinch the sixth seed in the MAC tournament.
Kent State jumped out to an early lead with an Olympico off the right foot of Siena Stambolich. The senior curled the corner kick up and around the head of the Falcons goalie and curled it just inside the back post.
Bowling Green would equalize with just 30 second left in the first half to go into the halftime break 1-1.
The Falcons would gain a 2-1 advantage in the 57th minute but, the Flashes would turn up the intensity and not allow another Bowling Green Shot on goal the rest of the match.
Kent State found the equalizer in the 66th minute when freshman Allison Collins made a run up into the midfield and played a ball perfectly to the feet of Alisa Arthur who took a touch and slotted the ball to the keeper's left and into the bottom corner of the net.
The Flashes would then take the lead of another beautiful corner kick by Stambolich that found the rising head of Ava Todd at the back post for the header. Giving Kent State a 3-2 advantage with just under 20 minutes left to play.
Arthur would give the Flashes some insurance in the 84th minute when Sam Miller played a ball that gave the Falcon defender some trouble and ended up at the feet of Arthur who hit a powerful left-footed strike into the bottom corner of the net.
Rising in the Record Book
Alisa Arthur is rising in many categories of the Kent State record book. The senior is now fifth in goals (25) and seventh points (64) and is knocking on the door of being in the top 10 in assists and shots on goal.
Red Hot Freshman
Freshman forward, Jules Dolinski, has been on fire for the Flashes. Dolinski has scored two points in three of the Flashes' last seven games. The forward recorded her first goal against Western Michigan on Oct. 5, scored again on Oct. 13 against Central Michigan, and last time our recorded a pair of assists on the road in Buffalo.
Scouting Miami
The RedHawks are coming into the MAC Quarterfinal on a four-game unbeaten streak winning three and drawing one.
Fifth year forward Taylor Hamlett leads the Miami attack with 24 points coming from 10 goals and four assists. Hamlett has scored points in three of the last four games including two goals and two assists.
Dominique Popa is the main woman in net for Miami playing 1440 minutes en route to six shutouts during the regular season. The sophomore has 57 saves on the season and has just allowed 18 goals in 16 games.
Series History
Sunday will mark the 31st meeting all-time between Kent State and Miami will the Flashes trailing in the all-time series 5-11-4. Kent State fell to Miami 0-1 when the two teams met at Dix Stadium on Sept 25.
