
Flashes Fall to Coppin State in Overtime

BALTIMORE — Kent State rallied from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime before falling in overtime to host Coppin State, 67-61, on Thursday evening.
The Golden Flashes (6-5) outscored the Eagles 21-7 in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Janae Tyler led the comeback effort with eight points, while seniors Jenna Batsch and Bridget Dunn combined for a 6-0 over the final 1:15 to send the game to the extra session.
Kent State was unable maintain its offensive rhythm during overtim and shot 0-of-5 from the field while committing four turnovers.
The Flashes posted a dominant 53-34 rebounding advantage. Dunn led the way with a career-high 18 boards. Junior Dionna Gray and sophomore Riley Rismiller grabbed eight rebounds each. Gray was Kent State's top scorer with 13 points. Rismiller (12) and Batsch (11) were also in double-figures.
Kent State will host John Carroll on Sunday, Dec. 29 to conclude preparation for the start of Mid-American Conference play as part of a M.A.C. Center doubleheader with the men's basketball team.
