Women’s Basketball Hosts John Carroll to Open Sunday Doubleheader
12/28/2024 1:00:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The Kent State women's basketball team returns to action at the M.A.C. Center on Sunday against John Carroll. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. and fans are encouraged to remain in the arena to watch the men's basketball game against Heidelberg that will follow from the general admission seating.
The Golden Flashes (6-5) battled back from a 14-point deficit to start the fourth quarter and forced overtime before falling to host Coppin State, 67-61, in its last contest on Dec. 19. Senior Bridget Dunn grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds, which is tied for the ninth-best single-game performance in program history, to limit second-chance opportunities for the host and offset a difficult shooting night. Junior Dionna Gray paced Kent State in the scoring column with 13 points, while sophomore Riley Rismiller and senior Jenna Batsch added 12 and 11, respectively.
Preseason All-MAC First Team selection Jenna Batsch is the top scorer at 13.9 points per game and has reached double-figures in 10 straight contests. Mya Babbitt (12.3 ppg) has scored 20 or more points in three games and ranks second in the Mid-American Conference in three-pointers (27). Dionna Gray has led Kent State to a 4-2 record after missing the first four games of the season and averages 12.0 points and 4.8 assists per game. Bridget Dunn (7.6 ppg) is second in the MAC in rebounding (10.7 rpg) and blocked shots (10). Riley Rismiller, a transfer from Dayton, has made an immediate impact with averages of 10.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
