WILMINGTON- Freshman Dom Kibler had a pair of doubles and two runs driven in but it wasn't enough as the host Seahawks rallied late to take the finale of the season-opening series, 8-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Kibler scored the game's first run in the third following his first double of the game and his double in the sixth plated a pair and gave the Flashes the lead. However, the Seahawks rallied to tie the game in the seventh, then broke it open with a five-run eighth to take the rubber match.

Calvin Bickerstaff was solid in his first collegiate start. The righty went the first five innings, allowing only one run on two hits while striking out five. Bickerstaff had worked exclusively out of the bullpen in his Kent State career until today and worked efficiently though his five innings, of his 71 pitches, 48 found the strike zone.

Kent State pounded out 10 hits as Kibler, Jake Casey and Tim Orr all had two-hit games. The Flashes had opportunities on Sunday, loading the bases twice, but couldn't find the clutch hit. In the ninth, the Flashes got two on but a leaping play at the center field wall off a Mike McNamara drive thwarted the rally and ended the game.

The Flashes stay on the road next weekend, starting a ten-day, eight-game road trip. First stop is Ruston, Louisiana to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. First pitch on Friday night is set for 7 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. CT.
