
Flashes Open Road Swing at La Tech

KENT- The Golden Flashes embark on a eight-game road trip, starting in Louisiana to take on the La. Tech Bulldogs for a three-game series.
Kent State and La Tech will meet on Friday at 7 p.m.ET, Saturday at 3 p.m. ET and the finale on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
The Flashes come into the weekend at 1-2 on the season after the opening weekend at UNC-Wilmington. Junior lefty Eric Chalus earned the win last weekend, fanning nine in five strong innings of work. The Kent State staff struck out 29 batters in the three games, holding the Seahawks to a .237 average.
Offensively, freshmen Bo Shinkle and Dom Kibler had nice starts to their college careers, each notching a couple of base hits and scoring a run. Veterans Jake Casey and Michael McNamara each homered in Saturday's win.
The Bulldogs swept Northern Colorado in a four-game series to start the season. La Tech ran wild on the Bears, going 9-for-9 in steals in the opening series. La Tech got a very balanced offensive effort in the series, 10 different players drove in a run and nobody drove home more than four. Utility man Ethan Bates was named to the pre-season All-C-USA team.
On the mound, the Bulldogs fanned 41 batters in the four games. Turner Swistak had a strong start during opening weekend, striking out eight and getting the win in 4.2 innings of work.
These will be the first meetings between the programs. All three games will air on the radio on the La Tech app as well as KNBB 97.7 FM. Live stats will also be provided.
The next leg on the road trip will be to Troy, Alabama to take on the Troy Trojans. First pitch on Tuesday night is set for 7 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. CT.
