Flashes Stymied by Bulldogs on Saturday

RUSTON, LA- Kent State fell behind early and couldn't rally late in a 10-2 setback at Louisiana Tech in the middle game of a three-game set on Saturday.
The Bulldogs put up runs in each of the first two innings against starter Eric Chalus on Saturday afternoon. La Tech strung together three hits in the first, scoring a trio of runs. Two more crossed in the second on a double and a sacrifice fly, staking the Bulldogs to a 5-0 lead.
Kent State got on the board in the fifth, taking advantage of a hit by pitch and an error. Josh Johnson brought home Ripken Reese on a fielder's choice and Brody Williams came home on a wild pitch. The Flashes would get two more runners on in the seventh but left them stranded and did the same in the eighth after a two-out rally put two on base.
La Tech would add insurance in the sixth and again in the eighth to round out the scoring. The loss drops the Flashes to 1-4 on the season. The series with the Bulldogs wraps on Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. ET first pitch with Calvin Bickerstaff slated to get the start in the finale.
