
Luther’s Weight Throw Victory Highlights Saturday’s Action at Meyo Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Grace Luther recorded a personal-best to win the women's weight throw on Saturday as the Kent State track and field team competed at the Meyo Invitational.
Luther had already secured first place entering her final attempt before unleashing a monster throw of 63'-9". Her new PR moves her up two spots to No. 6 on the Golden Flashes' all-time performance list. Briana Wright and Noel Frye also performed well in the event and placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Wright's top throw went 57'-0.75" and Frye's best mark was 55'-7".
Ethan Yost also had a performance that ranks in the top-10 in program history. Yost clocked a time of 4:03.25 in the men's Meyo mile, a time that only three Flashes have ever run faster than, for eighth place.
Two Flashes posted top-five finishes in the 800-meter run. Karsyn Spears took second in the women's race with a season-best time of 2:10.73. Quintin Cooks also ran his best time of the season and placed fifth in the men's race in 1:51.69.
Donovan Crawford recorded a personal-best for the fourth meet in a row with a mark of 60'-6.5" to place 10th in the men's weight throw.
Kent State will continue the indoor season next weekend with athletes in action at both the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 9-10) and SPIRE Indoor Games (Feb. 10).
