KENT- The Flashes (9-11) return home to Schoonover Stadium this weekend, welcoming in Saint Joe's (8-10) for a three-game, non-conference series.
The Hawks and Flashes are scheduled to play at 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday, weather permitting. Kent State is riding a 19-game home winning streak dating back to last year, the second-longest streak in the NCAA behind North Carolina.
The Flashes dropped a back-and-forth slugfest in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, falling 12-8 to the Panthers. Lance MacDonald cracked his first home run as a Golden Flash, hitting a then go-ahead grand slam on the first pitch he saw in the seventh. Kent State's balanced offense continued, the Flashes now have six players with double-digit RBI and eight players have scored eight or more runs.
On the mound, Kent State will look to slow down a Hawks' offense that is averaging a touch under seven runs a game. The Hawks have some power in their lineup, hitting 21 homers through 18 games. Ryan Weingartner and Owen Petrich lead the offense, both hitting north of .340 with over 20 RBI and each have six homers. The Hawks' starters have thrown to an ERA a tick under 5.00, but the team has a 7.00 through 18 games.
The three-game set will stream on BoxCast free of charge and live stats will be provided, links are available on the schedule page. Kent State heads on the road for four games next week, starting on Tuesday with a trip to Columbus to take on Ohio State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
