
Flashes Compete at Stan Romanoski Open

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The Kent State track and field teams competed this weekend, March 22 and 23, at the Stan Romanoski Open hosted by West Virginia University at the Mylan Park Track and Field Complex. The hammer and pole vault squads were the lone participants in the meet for the Flashes. The meet was not team-scored.
On Friday the hammer squad competed and was led by a second-place finish from graduate student Grace Luther who tossed the hammer 171' 0", fellow graduate student Briana Wright finished third, and redshirt sophomore Noel Frye was fourth. Wright's best mark was 163' 6" and Frye's best toss was 158' 11".
In the men's competition sophomore Donovan Crawford finished third with a personal best throw of 171' 9".
On Saturday the pole vaulters were the lone competitors for KSU. It was a successful day for the vault squad as freshman Kyla Taress claimed her first collegiate victory with a personal best height of 12' 1.25" and senior Kristian Kneffler took the crown in the men's competition clearing 17' 0.75".
The Golden Flashes will return to action next weekend with some split-squad action, sending a group of distance runners to the Raleigh Relays, a group of sprinters to the Texas Relays, and the rest of the team will head to Cincinnati for the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational.
