Track and Field heads to the Derby City for Clark Wood Open

KENT – The Kent State Track and Field teams will head to the Clark Wood Open hosted by the University of Louisville. The meet will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. with field events and running events will start at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday field events will begin at 10 a.m. and running events at 12:40 p.m.
Kent has 14 athletes and one relay ranked in the top 48 of the NCAA East Region. The top 48 athletes and top 24 relays will qualify for the Regional Championships hosted by Kentucky, May 22-25.
For the men, Jaheim Jones is ranked 23rd and 22nd, respectively in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Sean Callahan Jr. is 47th in the 100. They are joined by Logan Doyle and Dejon Manning on the 4x100-meter relay team that is ranked 18th. Alex Shields is 36th in the 110-meter hurdles. In the field events, Liam Vinskovich is 37th in the high jump and Kristian Kneffler is 18th in the pole vault. Ayden Bath rounds out the group ranked 16th in the decathlon.
On the women's squad, all current qualifiers are in the field events. Svenia DeConinck and Lillie Franks are 25th and 45th in the high jump. The duo of Gabby Bailey and Aliesha Shaw are among the qualifiers in both the shot put and discus. Bailey is ranked 37th and 9th, respectively and Shaw is 42nd and 19th, respectively. Matilde Carboncini is ranked 43rd in the heptathlon to complete the list of qualifiers for the Flashes.
