
Flashes Claim Five Event Victories in the Rubber City

KENT – The Kent State women claimed three event victories at the Northeast Ohio Open and Ayden Bath earned a spot on the all-time top-10 list in the decathlon at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational as the Kent State track and field teams closed out another week of successful split-squad action.
On Friday, the throwers competed at the Northeast Ohio Open in the Rubber City. Grace Luther claimed her first victory of the outdoor season in the hammer throw with a toss of 179' 3". That success continued into Saturday as Kyla Taress earned her second victory of the season in the pole vault clearing 11' 9.25" and Tianna McCormick topped the field in the women's high jump with a leap of 5' 1". The men claimed the top spot in two events on Saturday as Cai McKeever won the 400-meter dash in a career-best 50.04 seconds. Zamen Siyoum lowered his season's best in the 400-meter hurdles by over a second in a victorious effort of 54.13 seconds.
In Miami, Ayden Bath placed fourth in the decathlon with 6907 points and claimed the number 10 spot on the program's all-time list. Alexandre Malanda placed seventh in the triple jump with a hop, skip, and jump of 49' 1.75" and Lillie Franks finished sixth in the high jump, clearing 5' 7.75".
