
Three Flashes Crack Top 25 after Two Rounds at Las Vegas Regional

KENT, Ohio – A trio of Golden Flashes sit in the top 25 after the second round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Las Vegas Regional at Spanish Trail Country Club.
Veronika Kedronova carded a team-low, 2-under par 70 on Tuesday and finds herself tied for 13th place after 36 holes, leading the way for Kent State. The MAC Freshman of the Year had a slow start to her round, bogeying two of her first five holes, before catching fire just before the turn. Kedronova shot 4-under par in her last ten holes and now sits 1-under for the tournament.
Leon Takagi and Hester Sicking both sit tied for 25th place at 3-over par for the regional. Takagi put together a very balanced round, carding three birdies and three bogeys, to finish the day even. Sicking tallied three birdies on the afternoon, finishing the round with a 3-over par 75.
Vera Yi posted a 4-over 76 in Round 2, bookending her front nine with a pars . Jennifer Gu rounded out the Flashes' lineup with a 9-over par 81 and sits in 63rd place.
For the second day in a row, the Flashes (+18) find themselves in a tie for ninth place, this time with Colorado State. Arkansas leads the field at 16-under par, followed by Purdue (-12), UCLA (-2), Florida State (-1), and Baylor (+2). The top five teams as well as the low individual not on an advancing team after Wednesday's final round will advance to compete in the national championships to be played May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Round 1 Recap
Hester Sicking posted the low round of the day for the Golden Flashes, carding an even-par 72. The MAC Co-Champion came out of the gates hot, birdieing the par-4 tenth hole to start the round. She sat one over at the turn, but a birdie on Hole 1 followed by eight pars in a row puts her in a tie for 13th place heading into Tuesday.Â
Veronika Kedronova sits tied for 18th place, just one stroke behind Sicking, after a 1-over par 73 in her first NCAA Regional appearance. The MAC Freshman of the Year recorded a team-best four birdies on the day and bounced back especially well after a double bogey on the first hole of the day.
Leon Takagi is tied for 38th place following a 3-over par 75. Following a rough stretch to end the front nine, the MAC Player of the Year shot 2-under over the final nine holes, carding 2 birdies and seven pars. A late addition to the lineup, Vera Yi is tied for 61st place after a 9-over par 81. Jennifer Gu rounded out the Flashes' lineup with a 12-over par 84 in the opening round.
As a squad, Kent State sits in a tie for ninth place with California at 13-over par. Arkansas leads the way after Round 1 at 8-under par, followed by Florida State at 5-under and Purdue at 4-under. UCLA (+4) and Baylor (+5) round out the top five.
