NORMAN, Okla.— The Kent State men's golf program has received Presidents Special Recognition honors for stellar performance in the classroom, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Tuesday.
The Golden Flashes were among 59 NCAA Division I programs to earn the organization's highest honor for team academic success, which requires a 3.50 or higher team GPA for the academic year. A total of 240 schools across six divisions earned a GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award, which requires a minimum GPA of 3.00 based on a 4.0 scale.
Last week, Kent State had four individuals recognized by the GCAA, as Edvin Backstrom, Cade Breitenstine, Jordan Gilkison and Bryce Reed were named Cobalt All-America Scholars.
