KENT, Ohio - The Kent State field hockey team (0-5) returns to Murphy-Mellis Field on Friday with a matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions set to begin at 3 p.m. Additionally, Friday's match has been designated as the program's celebration of 50 seasons as a varsity program at Kent State.
About the Flashes
Kent State returns home after playing three games in California this past weekend. The Flashes opened the road stand with a 3-1 defeat at Stanford. Despite the defeat, the match was extremely competitive as outlined by the 10-9 shot count in favor of the Cardinal. Eva Usoz continued her strong start to the season, opening her season goalscoring account with a stellar solo goal in the fourth quarter. Just one day later, the Flashes headed to Berkeley, falling 3-1 to California. Agustina Florio tallied her second goal of the season, aided by assists from Usoz and Emma Rolston.
The road trip concluded with a Sunday evening battle against UC Davis, where the Aggies claimed a 2-0 victory. Despite the scoreline, the Flashes were dominant for much of the match, outshooting UC Davis 19-9 throughout the contest. Kent State will hope to break the seal in front of goal at Murphy-Mellis Field on Friday.
