Flashes Road Trip Ends With Competitive Defeat

DAVIS, Calif. – The Kent State field hockey team concluded a three-game road trip to the state of California on Sunday with a 2-0 defeat at UC Davis.
The Flashes came out of the gates firing in the first quarter, outshooting the Aggies 6-2 in the period. Despite this offensive advantage, Kent State was unable to find the back of the cage and the score sheet was untouched entering the second quarter.
After resisting Kent State's attack in the first quarter, UC Davis was able to score the game's opening goal six minutes into the second period. The Aggies were able to defend their 1-0 lead to halftime, fending off another flurry of attacks by the Flashes.
Despite doubling the Aggies' shot count in the third quarter, 6-3, Kent State conceded the second goal of the match with less than two minutes remaining in the period. With a doubled advantage, UC Davis was able to continue to stump the Flashes' offense as the match ended in a 2-0 defeat for Kent State.
It was one of those days in front of goal for Kent State, as they outshot the Aggies 19-9 throughout the match, but were unable to record a goal. Goalkeeper Allison Wood helped keep the Flashes in touching distance, tallying three saves after entering the match at halftime.
The Flashes will return to action at Murphy-Mellis Field on Friday at 3 p.m. as they host Penn State for the program's 50th season celebration match.
