Golden Flashes to Host Western Michigan on Tuesday Night

KENT – Kent State Men's Basketball continues their early Mid-American Conference slate on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at home against Western Michigan University. Tipoff between the Golden Flashes (11-4) and Broncos (3-12) is set for 7:00 p.m. in the M.A.C. Center.
Last Time Out
Most recently the blue and gold posted their second MAC victory against the University at Buffalo on Jan. 10 by a final score of 68-49. VonCameron Davis' 20 points marked his fourth straight game in the 20-point range. He and Delrecco Gillespie led the roster with eight rebounds each. Jalen Sullinger notched another double-digit night with 12 points. Marquis Barnett surpassed 1,000 points in his college career scoring six. Cian Medley led the roster in assists with eight marking a new season high.
Scouting the Broncos
This will be meeting number 125 between the Kent State Golden Flashes and Western Michigan Broncos in a series that extends back to 1951. The Flashes did not play Western Michigan prior to join the MAC in 1951. KSU leads the series all-time with a record 67-57. They are looking to make it five straight wins having won the last four meetings including the most recent on Feb. 6, 2024, in Kent by a final score of 63-60. Western Michigan has four players averaging double-digits including Chansey Willis Jr. (15.3), Markhi Strickland (11.7), Owen Lobsinger (11.1), and JaVaughn Hannah (10.7). WMU Head Coach Dwayne Stephens is in year three at the helm of the Broncos program entering Tuesday's matchup with a record of 23-55. Last season WMU went 12-20 falling to Ohio University in the first round of the 2024 MAC Championship tournament.

Next Up for Kent State
