
RedHawks Pull Away from Golden Flashes

KENT – The Kent State Men's Basketball team fell against the RedHawks of Miami University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 70-61. Four Flashes scored double-digits including Cian Medley despite the setback.
The RedHawks held a slight lead for the first 10 minutes. With 8:25 to go, Cli'Ron Hornbeak sunk a layup to tie the game at 20. At 6:56 VonCameron Davis gave KSU a 24-23 lead with a free throw. Jalen Sullinger then made a pair of free-throws extending the lead following an unsportsmanlike call on Miami (OH). Delrecco Geillespie continued to draw fouls underneath as the half winded down. The Golden Flashes went on a 18-9 run to close out the first taking a 41-32 lead into the break. MU opened the second half with an 11-2 run in the first five minutes of the second tying the game at 43 with 14:40 on the clock. Despite four Flashes in double-digits, Miami (OH) went on a 29- 18 run from that point to secure a nine-point win.
Medley matched a career high of 15 points scoring the same as his Dec. 6 performance against Portland. It was his third double-digit performance of the season thus far. Sullinger followed him in scoring with 11, and Hornbeak and Gillespie each tallied 10. Gillespie led the roster in rebounds with eight. Davis led the Flashes in assists with five.
