Kedronova Tied for Lead at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team began its final tournament of the Fall on Friday at the Landfall Tradition, with the opening round contested at the Country Club of Landfall. Veronika Kedronova paced the Golden Flashes in round one, firing a 3-under-par 69 to sit tied atop the 96-golfer leaderboard through 18 holes. As a team, Kent State recorded a 10-over-par 298 and is currently in 14th place among the 18 competing teams after the first round.
SMU sits atop the team standings after round one at 1-under-par, the only team to record an opening-round score under par. The Mustangs sit just one stroke ahead of North Carolina and Kentucky at even par in what is an extremely competitive field featuring 13 teams currently ranked in the top 50 of Scoreboard's national rankings.
After winning the individual title in her most recent appearance with Kent State at the Canadian Collegiate, Kedronova's strong start puts her in position to contend for the 5th individual win of her collegiate career. The junior began her day with a clean opening nine holes, featuring two birdies and no bogeys. She recorded three birdies to offset two bogeys in the second half of the round to conclude the day with a 3-under-par 69, her second round in the 60s this season. Kedronova will look to keep up the pace over the final 36 holes as she seeks back-to-back wins.
Gracie Larsen and Isabella Goyette tied for Kent State's second-best score in round one. The sophomore duo each carded a 3-over-par 75 on Friday, with both tallying three birdies on the day. They are each tied for 47th place entering Saturday's second round. The Flashes' final score countable toward the team total was recorded by Leon Takagi, who posted a 7-over-par 79 and is tied for 83rd place.
The Landfall Tradition continues with staggered round two tee times on Saturday morning.
