The Kent State women's basketball team will spend Thanksgiving weekend in Nassau, Bahamas and play two games as part of the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship. The Golden Flashes' first game is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday against unbeaten Tulsa inside of the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center.
Kent State (3-4) lost its second straight contest, a 58-53 defensive battle, to Duquesne on Monday. The Flashes held their host 28 points below its scoring average entering the night but struggled to knock shots and went just 20-for-70 from the field. Riley Rismiller led the way with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman Rylee Kalocay was right behind with a career-high 11 points. Mya Babbitt and Tatiana Thomas added 10 points each.
Junior Mya Babbitt is top scorer at 15.6 points per game. Babbitt ranks 22nd in the nation with 18 three-point field goals and has scored in double-figures in six consecutive games. The sharpshooter is second on the team with 4.7 rebounds per game. Redshirt junior Corynne Hauser (9.2 ppg) is averaging 15.0 points per contest when playing more than 21 minutes. Juniors Janae Tyler (9.1 ppg) and Riley Rismiller (8.0 ppg) provide low post options. Rismiller has two double-doubles and ranks seventh in the MAC in rebounding with 8.0 per game. Senior Dionna Gray (4.3 ppg) is fifth in the MAC in assists with 4.9 per game.
