Golden Flashes Welcome Central Michigan in Their Return to MAC Play

KENT – Kent State Men's Basketball (15-8) will host the Chippewas of Central Michigan University in M.A.C. Center on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. This is Kent State's first Mid-American Conference game since defeating Eastern Michigan on Feb 4., and their first game following the end of the MAC-SBC Challenge.
Last Time Out
On Saturday, Feb. 8 Kent State defeated Arkansas State in a thriller at home by a final score of 76-75. With the victory the Golden Flashes went 2-0 in the MAC-SBC Challenge for the 2024-2025 season. They also have gone undefeated in non-conference home games for the year. Delrecco Gillespie led Kent State in rebounds for the second straight game with nine. His 12 points were just one shy of his career high scored on Feb. 4. Jalen Sullinger led the Flashes in scoring with 27 also going perfect at the FT line 5-5. Marquis Barnett's 14 points were his sixth double-digit game of the season and his second his total in a Kent State uniform. He and Jamal Sumlin went 7-7 from the line making a huge difference down the stretch.
Scouting the Chippewas
Central Michigan enters with a record of 11-12 and seventh in the MAC at 4-6. Most recently they defeated Texas State on Feb. 8 by a 85-70 final. Head Coach Tony Barbee enters this matchup with a record of 46-70. He is in his fourth year at the helm of the CMU program. The Golden Flashes and Chippewas have met a total of 90 times. Kent State has a record of 54-36 against CMU entering Tuesday. The Flashes won their most recent meeting on March 2, 2024 in Kent by a final of 79-73. Central Michigan won the previous meeting on Jan. 13, 2024 by a 62-77. This is their only regular season meeting scheduled this season.

Following Tuesday's game, Kent State Men's Basketball will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 14 at home against Ohio University. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. eastern time and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
