
Golden Flashes Take Down Ohio in Friday Night Thriller

KENT, Ohio – Kent State Men's Basketball tallied their fourth straight victory on Friday night defeating the Ohio University Bobcats by a final score of 76-75. Four Flashes were in double-digits and sophomore guard Cian Medley tallied a new career high of 24 points.
The Bobcats opened the ballgame on a 25-16 run shooting over 90% in the first 10 minutes. Kent State utilized a 9-4 run of their own to make it a four-point game with 8:40 to play in the first half. Cian Medley and VonCameron Davis were the primary architects of a 17-6 run with Golden Flashes taking their first lead of the game at 6:47 in the first. KSU ended up taking a 44-40 lead into the break. Ohio scored the opening five points of the second half as the game quickly became a back-and-forth ultimately having 19 lead changes. The game was tied a 70 with 1:06 remaining. Medley and Delrecco Gillespie made free throws to put KSU up two. On the returning possession Cli'Ron Hornbeak was able to steal the ball before slamming it down giving the Flashes a four-point lead with 22 seconds left. The Flashes were able to hang on for the one-point victory following a pair of free throws from Jalen Sullinger and an Ohio three-pointer with five seconds left.
Medley's 24 points were a new career high surpassing his 22 dropped against Toledo on Jan. 21. It was his third time leading the roster in scoring this season. Sullinger scored 18 for his 17th double-digit game of the season, and the 64th of his career. Jamal Sumlin scored 20 for his fourth double-digit performance of the season. VonCameron Davis' 10 points marked his 19th double-digit performance of the season and the 54th of his career. Gillespie led Kent State in rebounds for the fourth straight game pulling in 12. It was his third game of the season with double-digit rebounds.
