Kedronova Earns Fifth Top Ten Finish of Season at Spartan Sun Coast Collegiate

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Kent State women's golf team wrapped up their second tournament of the Spring season on Monday with the third and final round of the Spartan Sun Coast Collegiate contested at the Palm Aire Country Club Champions Course. The Golden Flashes concluded the tournament tied for ninth place, recording a 6-over-par 294 in round three to bring their overall tally to 13-over-par.
Veronika Kedronova led the Flashes with the team's highest round three score and overall tournament score en route to the fifth top ten finish of her sophomore season. She tallied five birdies in round three to overcome five bogeys and end the round with an even-par 72. Her three-round score of 1-under-par was good enough to tie for ninth place among the 81 individuals competing.
Kent State's second-best score in round three was recorded by Petra Babicova, who recovered from a score of 11-over-par across the opening two rounds, with a 1-over-par 73 on Monday. Her round was highlighted by an eagle at hole no. 1, the Flashes' second eagle of the event after Leon Takagi's in Sunday's second round. Babicova concludes the tournament tied for 67th at 12-over-par.
The Flashes' final two scores countable toward the team total in round three were recorded by Aryn Matthews and Takagi. Matthews fired her best round of the tournament on Monday, tallying a 2-over-par 74 in which she shot 1-under-par in her final eight holes. At 10-over-par for the tournament, Matthews finishes tied for 60th place. Takagi concluded her tournament with a 3-over-par 75 as she closed out her best tournament of the season in terms of score to par and placement on the individual leaderboard, at 2-over-par and tied for 22nd.
Ohio State and Michigan State finished tied atop the team standings at 4-under-par, with the Spartans taking the title via tiebreaker after a round of 12-under-par on Monday.
The Flashes will return to action on March 9, as they head to South Carolina to take part in the Briar's Creek Invitational.
