KENT, Ohio - The Kent State men's golf team is set for their second tournament of the season as the General Hackler Championship begins in South Carolina on Sunday.

Notes:
- The General Hackler will be Kent State's second event of the Spring season. The Flashes opened the Spring with a runner-up finish (-24) at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate in February.
- The Flashes have a history playing in the General Hackler, appearing in the event nearly annually since 2007. Kent State tied for first in the 2013 edition of the tournament. Last season at the General Hackler, the Flashes finished tied for ninth among 14 teams competing.
- Freshman Isaiah Ibit led the Flashes last month at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate, finishing tied for third at 9-under-par with three consecutive rounds in the 60s. The freshman won the second MAC Golfer of the Week award of his collegiate career for the performance.
- Jordan Gilkison continued his strong senior season in the Spring opener, recording an 8-under-par 54-hole score to finish tied for sixth with three consecutive rounds in the 60s. Gilkison leads the Flashes with a 70.44 scoring average this season.
- Bryce Reed returns to the Kent State team lineup after competing as an individual at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate to open the Spring. Reed tied for 12th, his second-best finish of the season, at 6-under-par with three consecutive rounds of par or better.
- Nolan Haynes and Ramiro Acevedo round out a trio of freshmen in the Kent State lineup for the second consecutive tournament to open the Spring. Haynes tied for 24th at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate with a 2-under-par score, the best score to par of his collegiate career. Acevedo posted back-to-back rounds of 69 in the second and third round of the Hal Williams Intercollegiate to finish 1-over-par and tied for 36th.
- Edvin Backstrom will compete as an individual this week after appearing in the Flashes' team lineup to start the Spring season. He shot 2-over-par to finish tied for 44th at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate.
