BOWLING GREEN- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team dominated the Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday winning 20-4.
Saturday marked the fifth straight game for the Flashes with double digit runs scored and the ninth time since the start of March. The win also marks the first time in the 2025 season that every Kent State starter recorded a hit, last being done against Bowling Green on Apr. 28, 2024.
Sophomore, Jacob Bean, was brilliant on the mound for the Flashes. The right-hander went four innings allowing just one run on two hits while striking out six Falcons. Bean pitched into and out of a bases loaded jam in the first and did not allow a hit until the bottom of the fourth inning.
Sawyer Solitaria got the Flashes on the board in the top of the first with an RBI double out to the gap in left center field. Hunter Klotz would double the lead with an RBI single through the right side.
The Flashes would get four more runs in the top of the fourth on a Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe RBI ground out. Hayden Jatczak would come up just a few batters later and blow the game wide open with a three-run opposite field homer to extend the Flashes lead to six.
Bowling Green would get on the board with an Rbi single in the bottom of the fourth.
Kent State took the momentum right back scoring 14 runs in the top of the fifth inning. The inning was the Flashes first inning of 10 or more runs this season and their first since they scored 13 runs at Ohio in the fourth inning last season.
Alejandro Covas would open the scoring the fifth with a two-RBI double. After a Falcons pitching change, Ripken Reese would hit a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw. A few batters later Jatczak would hit his MAC leading 13th double to bring in Marshall. Solitaria would get two more RBIs on a hard hit single up the middle and later come in to score on an error by the Falcons first baseman. Brody Williams would score on a wild pitch. Marshall would get an RBI single of his own. Billy Gerlott would score the last three runs of the inning on a pinch-hit homer to right field, the first of Gerlott's Kent State Career.
Brody Krzysiak comes in and pitched two innings allowing just two earned runs. Alex Alberico came in to pitch the seventh and recorded the final three outs on just eight pitches.
