
Flashes Set for Pair of Midweek Matchups

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes Baseball team will host a pair of midweek games at Schoonover Stadium. On Tuesday, Apr 1 the Mercyhurst Lakers, a game originally scheduled to be in Erie, Pa. On Wednesday, Apr. 2 the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets will take the short bus ride down to Kent. Both games are set for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
Both games will be streamed on BoxCast with Dane Richardson on the call. Live Stats will also be available for both contests.
Last Time Out
The Flashes completed the sweep of the Toledo Rockets on Sunday.
Kent State would strike first on Sunday afternoon on an RBI infield single by Sawyer Solitaria.
Toledo would go on to take just their second lead of the weekend in the top of the fourth scoring two runs. The lead would not last long as Alejandro Covas would tie the game up in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI double up the right field line.
Jake Casey would give the Flashes the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a towereing homer deep over the wall in right field. The moment was made even better for Casey as his dad, Sean Casey, joined Dane Richardson in the broadcast booth during the fifth inning.
Covas would score the Flashes fifth run of the afternoon on an error by the catcher. Covas stole third and then came in to score as the ball rolled to the outfield grass.
Kent State would get their last run of insurance off the red-hot bat of Csey who roped an RBI double off the wall in right center field.
Eric Chalus got the start for the Flashes and pitched 3.1 innings allowing just two runs on three hits and striking out four. But the star of the show on the mound for Kent State was Rocco Bernadina, the right-hander pitched the final 5.2 innings of the game only allowing two hits while striking out seven Rockets.

Mercyhurst
The Lakers will return to Schoonoevr for the second time this season after falling to the Flashes last time by a score of 18-6 in eight innings on Mar. 4.
Eric Chorba powers the Lakers offense hitting .380 on the season and is riding an 11-game hitting streak. Chorba had 10 hits in Mercyhurt's weekend sweep of UMES.
Baldwin Wallace
The Yellow Jackets come into the week at 11-7 on the year and are slated to play a doubleheader against Heidelberg on Tuesday before coming down to Kent.
Sean Kolenich leads the Baldwin Wallace offense in batting average (.438), runs (18), doubles (9), and total bases (37).Kolenich has recorded hits in 15 of his 18 games played this season.
