OXFORD- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team fell in the series opener against the Miami RedHawks by a score of 5-4.
Miami would jump out to an early lead after scoring all five of their runs in the bottom of the first inning.
After the first inning Kent state starting pitcher would settle in nicely pitching five more shutout innings.
Hunter Klotz would get the Flashes on the board with a two-run homer in the top of the second. The senior took a 3-1 pitch and hammered it over the wall in right field.
Kent State would get another run back in the top of the fourth on a double steal that caused a throwing error by the RedHawks catcher that allowed Brody Williams to score.
Sawyer Solitaria would bring in the fourth run of the day on a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth.
The Flashes got two shutout innings out of their bullpen. Caden Leonard pitched 1.1 innings allowing just three hits while striking out two. Peyton Cariaco faced the final two batters and struck out one of them. This marks the seventh straight outing where Cariaco hasn't allowed a run.
