
Flashes Complete Sweep of Bobcats

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team completed their sweep over the Ohio Bobcats by a score of 12-6 Saturday evening.
The Bobcats would take their first lead of the weekend scoring one in the top of the first on a sacrifice bunt.
Kent State would take the lead in the bottom of the first on a three-run opposite field home run by Sawyer Solitaria.
Another Freshman would leave the park in the second inning when Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe took the first pitch he saw the other way and parked it over the wall in right field.
Three more runs would come across in the bottom of the third on the first of two Brody Williams RBI singles and then two runs would come in on two separate errors by the Bobcat's shortstop.
Ohio would tally another run in the top of the fourth inning.
The Flashes would get two runs in the bottom of the fifth and bottom of the seventh to extend their lead. In the fifth Solitaira scored on a Klotz RBI ground out and Williams would score on a Kiracofe single up the middle. In the seventh Jake Casey would score on William's second RBI single of the day and would score on a Klotz ground-rule double.
The Bobcats would make things interesting with four runs in the top of the eighth to cut into the Flashes lead.
Hayden Jatczak would give the Flashes some insurance with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.
On the mound for the Flashes right hander Rocco Bernadina got his third start of the season and made it a good one. Bernadina went 5.2 innings allowing two runs on seven hits and struck out two Bobcats. Caden Leonard followed him up with 1.1 innings allowing just one hit and striking out to. Peyton Cariaco finished the game with 1.2 innings allowing just one hit and striking out two as well.
On Deck for the Flashes
Kent State will be back in action for a rare Monday night game when they play host to Washington and Jefferson College. First pitch is currently slated for 6:00 p.m.
