
Flashes Welcome Rival Zips for Wagon Wheel Weekend Series

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes Baseball team continues their home stand as they welcome in the rival Akron Zips for a three game Mid-American Conference series. The two teams are set to face off at 6 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
All three games will be streamed for free on BoxCast. Live stats will also be provided.
About The Flashes
The Flashes are coming off a historic victory over Youngstown State on Wednesday. The victory marked the 374th in Head Coach Jeff Duncan's illustrious Kent State career passing Rick Rembielak for the most in program history.
Kent State comes into the weekend at 26-13 and 14-4 in MAC play. The Flashes are currently riding a five-game win streak and are winners of 18 of their last 20. It has been over a month since the Flashes have lost back-to-back games.
Jake Bean has now made it four straight starts going five or more innings. Last weekend against Ohio the sophomore went five innings allowing just one run en route to his sixth win of the season.

Scouting the Opposition
The Akron Zips come into Kent at 13-27 on the season and 6-15 in MAC play. The Zips took two out of three last weekend on the road against Northern Illinois. They went 1-1 during the week defeating Cedarville 10-0 on Monday and falling 5-11 against Ohio State.
Jared Schaffer has started 10 games for the Zips and has pitched to the tune of a 4.91 ERA across 58.2 innings of work. His best outing of the season came in a complete game against Toledo. The junior went all eight innings in a tough luck loss allowing just one run and striking out six Rockets.
