KENT, Ohio - The Kent State men's golf team is set to compete in the 2025 MAC Championship this week, with the event beginning on Sunday, April 27, at Pinnacle Golf Club. The Flashes have won 28 MAC Championships in program history and are seeking their first title since 2022.

Notes:
- Kent State has a storied history in the MAC Men's Golf Championship, having won the tournament 28 times. The Flashes' most recent victory came in 2022 in Naperville, Illinois. In 2024, Kent State tied for third among the nine teams competing, finishing nine strokes behind champion Ball State.
- Jordan Gilkison headlines the Kent State lineup fresh off his fourth MAC Golfer of the Week award of the season. Gilkison has had a phenomenal senior season featuring two wins, a team-best 71.03 scoring average, and 21 rounds of par or better. He tied for fifth in his previous outing at the Robert Kepler Invitational at 4-over-par.
- Isaiah Ibit has been another staple in the Kent State lineup throughout his freshman season. The Canadian international boasts a 72.27 scoring average, featuring 11 rounds in the 60s this season. Ibit earned his fourth top-ten finish of the season in the team's previous outing at the Robert Kepler Invitational, tying for tenth at 7-over-par.
- Bryce Reed is another senior who has been a consistent part of the Flashes' lineup this season. He has tallied 11 rounds of par or better in 30 rounds of action this season, accumulating a 73.13 scoring average. Reed earned his fourth top-20 finish of the season at last weekend's Robert Kepler Invitational, tying for 20th at 12-over-par.
- Nolan Haynes earned the third top-20 finish of his freshman season at the Robert Kepler Invitational, tying for 17th at 10-over-par. Haynes has seven rounds of par or better this season, including two rounds in the 60s.
- Edvin Backstrom has had a strong Spring for the Flashes, highlighted by a tied 13th finish at the Buckeye Classic two weeks ago, where he shot 1-under-par. Backstrom has recorded six rounds of par or better in just 20 rounds played this season, earning an impressive 73.00 scoring average.
- Starting as a substitute option at this week's MAC Championship, Ramiro Acevedo is one of four golfers from Kent State with double-digit rounds of par or better, tallying ten thus far. Acevedo boasts a 73.18 scoring average with five top-15 finishes this season. Two weeks ago at the Buckeye Classic, he finished ninth at 3-under-par, shooting a season-low 66 in round three of the event.
