
Flashes Set for B1G Mid-Week Matchup

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes Baseball team will travel down to Columbus for a mid-week matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes on Wednesday Apr. 9. First pitched has been pushed up to a 4 p.m. first pitch to avoid late cold temperatures.
The game will be streamed on Big Ten Network +. Live stats will also be available.
About The Flashes
Kent State will enter Wednesday's game with a 19-11 record on the 2025 season and are currently riding the nation's second longest win streak at 11 games. The Flashes have won their last six weekend series including the Keith LeClair classic hosted by East Carolina. Kent State has swept their last two Mid-American Conference series over the Toledo Rockets and Central Michigan Chippewas.
The Flashes boast one of the highest-powered offenses in the MAC. Kent State leads or tied for the conference lead in batting average (.302), runs (270), doubles (74), triples (13), runs batted in (252), hit by pitches (58), and stolen bases (68). Leading the way is a pair of seniors, Jake Casey and Hayden Jatczak who have started all 30 games for the Flashes. Casey leads the team in runs (42), home runs (9), slugging percentage (.699), hit by pitches (12), on base percentage (.469). Jatczak leads the Flashes in hits (42), doubles (18), total bases (82). Jatczak's 18 doubles are good for first in the MAC and second in Division One baseball.

Scouting the Opposition
Ohio state enters Wednesday afternoon's matchup at 8-20 on the season with a 2-10 record in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are on a four-game losing skid after losing to West Virginia in a mid-week matchup last week and getting swept by USC over the weekend in California.
Senior, Tyler Pettorini, powers the Buckeye offense. The infielder leads the team in batting average (.359), hits (42), doubles (8), home runs (9), runs batted in (32), total bases (77), and slugging percentage (.658).
Kent State and Ohio State attempted to play each other four separate times in the 2024 season but each game was postponed and eventually canceled due to weather. The two teams split a home and home series in 2023 with each team winning their home ballpark.
