KENT, Ohio –– Kent State Athletics is proud to announce the full endowment of scholarships for the men's golf program, marking a significant milestone in the department and program's history. This achievement ensures the long-term success and stability of the men's golf team, providing sustainable funding for student-athletes to excel both in the classroom and in competition. The men's golf program is the first in the athletic department to achieve this goal.
"We are thrilled to announce the full scholarship endowment of our golf program," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond. "This achievement would not have been possible without the vision of Herb Page, the support of his wife Paula, and the incredible generosity of our donors, whose commitment to excellence in athletics continues to elevate our programs. Thanks to their support, we can now feel confident in our ability to continue to provide our student-athletes with the resources and opportunities necessary to compete at the highest level. This is an exciting moment for our golf team and for the future of our athletic department."
The full scholarship endowment goal, which was just over $3 million, was achieved through the philanthropy and dedicated efforts of former head coach Herb Page and his wife Paula, along with generous contributions from numerous other donors.
"With the many changes in collegiate athletics, philanthropy is the future of sustaining first-class athletic experiences at universities like Kent State for our talented student-athletes," said Richmond.
The Kent State Men's Golf program has a longstanding history of success, claiming 28 MAC Championships and producing several professional golfers. With the full endowment of scholarships, the program is well-positioned to continue its tradition of excellence and attract top talent worldwide.
"The endowment of our scholarships is such an important milestone for the men's golf program," said Head Coach Jon Mills. "We are honored that our donors believe so deeply in our program and our student-athletes, and this important step will allow the Golden Flashes to continue to flourish on the national stage. My sincere thanks - and that of our players and coaches - is extended to each supporter."
