
Grover Punches Ticket to NCAA Track & Field Championships, 11 Additional Golden Flashes Qualify for First Round Competition

INDIANAPOLIS – Kent State will have 12 student-athletes participate in postseason track and field competition, as the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the qualifiers for men's and women's outdoor track and field championships first round competitions on Thursday.
Shelby Grover advances directly to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships that will be held June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon as one of 24 entrants in the women's heptathlon.
The remaining 11 Golden Flashes hope to join her at the national meet but will first compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds, which will take place May 28-31 in Jacksonville, Florida.
For each individual event contested at each of the preliminary round sites, the top 48 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event, the top 24 declared relay teams were accepted into the competition.
Four Kent State student-athletes — Ayden Bath, Jaheim Jones, Alexandre Malanda and Aliesha Shaw —qualified in two events each. Bath (men's 110m hurdles, long jump), Jones (men's 100m, 200m) and Shaw (women's discus throw, shot put) are two-event qualifiers for the second year in a row. Malanda qualified in the men's triple jump for the third time in the past four years and will also compete in the long jump for the first time.
Svenia De Coninck qualified for the women's high jump for the third year in a row, while Amryne Chilton is the final Flash with previous preliminary round experience and will run in the women's 200m dash for the second time.
First-time qualifiers include Donovan Crawford (men's discus throw), Keeli Dunaway (women's triple jump), Amare Hall (men's long jump), Kristen Jay (women's javelin throw) and Charles Pawlosky (men's shot put).
The top 12 performers from each first round site will advance to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
