
Five Golden Flashes Selected to Phil Steeleās Preseason MAC Teams

KENT, Ohio āāĀ Golden Flashes had five student-athletes selected to the Phil Steele Preseason Mid-American Conference (MAC) Team.
The Flashes saw one person make the First Team in kick returner Dashawn Martin. Linebacker Mason Woods made the Second Team. The Flashes had two on the Third Team in running back Jordan Nubin and long snapper Gus Goodell. Canaan Williams was the fifth Flash, making the Fourth Team.
Martin was named to the All-MAC Third Team after compiling 400 kick return yards in 2024. Martin started nine games and also had 108 receiving yards last season.
Woods saw action in all twelve games last season, starting in six, and totaled 68 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss and one pass breakup. Woods' best performance came vs. Akron, tallying 11 tackles.
Nubin transferred from Minnesota, where he spent four seasons with the Gophers. During Nubin's sophomore season, he rushed for 578 yards and three touchdowns on 127 carries. Nubin had a career game versus Michigan State, rushing 40 times for 204 yards and two touchdowns.
Goodell appeared as a long-snapper in three games for the Flashes in 2024.
Williams saw action in 11 games, starting in nine, and recorded 46 tackles and three for loss. Williams also had an interception and a pass breakup. Williams had a career-high seven tackles at Miami (OH).
The Golden Flashes are scheduled to open their season up on August 30 vs. Merrimack College at noon on ESPN+.
