KENT, Ohio — Kent State head coach Haley Eckerman has announced that Tyrell Jamison and Liv Setla have joined the volleyball staff as assistant coaches for the upcoming 2025 season.
"I'm beyond excited to officially welcome Tyrell and Liv to our coaching staff," Eckerman said. "Both bring incredible passion, energy, and a deep love for the game that's contagious. Their experience and vision will elevate our program, and I can't wait to see the impact they'll have on our student-athletes both on and off the court."
Jamison served as head coach of the men's team at LeMoyne-Owen during the program's inaugural campaign this past year. He mentored outside hitter Alendy Sincoul to conference freshman of the year and all-conference second-team accolades. Additionally, three Magicians earned academic all-conference honors.
A recipient of the AVCA Diversity Coaches Award in 2021, Jamison spent the previous five years coaching at the college, high school and club levels. Notably, he was head coach for the Louisville Fury Volleyball Club's 14 Navy team that placed 12th in the Classic Division at AAU Boys Nationals in 2022.
Jamison graduated from Claflin University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earned a Master of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Louisville in 2020.
Setla was a member of the UNLV volleyball team the past four years and totaled 179 digs and 49 aces over 88 matches as a defensive specialist. She helped the Rebels qualify for postseason competition twice, a NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022 and a National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) title run in 2021. Setla was a three-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and two-time Mountain West Academic All-Conference honoree.
In 2024, Setla founded Feed The Soul Co., a lifestyle and mental wellness brand created to support athletes beyond the game and exists to create intentional spaces — online and in person — where athletes can reconnect with who they are outside of sport.
Setla graduated from UNLV in May with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
The Golden Flashes will report to campus for preseason training on Aug. 8. Season tickets are currently available for purchase on KSUTix.com.
