MUSKOKA, Ontario – The Kent State men's golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the Fall on Tuesday with the third and final round of the Canadian Collegiate at Öviinbyrd Golf Course. The Golden Flashes posted a 2-over-par 290 in round three to conclude the event tied for sixth place among the 11 squads competing at even-par. Isaiah Ibit fired a 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday to finish the tournament in third place.
Ibit carded Kent State's low round in round three to match his collegiate best 54-hole score with a 12-under-par 204. The Ontario native initially set his personal low mark at the 2024 Canadian Collegiate, making it two years in a row that he has shown out on home soil. Ibit tallied 17 birdies at this year's event, the joint-third most among the field of 62 golfers. Seven strokes behind the individual champion, Ibit claims a third-place finish for his first top-five placement of the Fall.
Nolan Haynes earned his first top-20 finish of the season on Tuesday, recording a 4-over-par 76 in round three. The talented sophomore posted Kent State's second-best individual finish of the week, tying for 18th place at even-par.
After missing the opening round of the tournament on Sunday, freshman Christoffer Leuenhagen carded his best round of the week on Tuesday. The Danish international fired his second round of the season under par with a 1-under-par 71 in round three. Leuenhagen finishes with a 5-over-par 36-hole score.
Ramiro Acevedo concluded his week with an up-and-down third round on Tuesday, culminating in a 1-over-par 73. The sophomore tallied six birdies and an eagle at hole no. 12, the team's fourth eagle of the event, but bogey troubles across other holes kept the Argentine from posting a low number to wrap up the week. Acevedo concludes the Canadian Collegiate tied for 30th place at 4-over-par.
Notre Dame claimed the team championship at the Canadian Collegiate on Tuesday, capping off an impressive performance, where the Fighting Irish led wire-to-wire. The victors posted a 10-under-par 278 in round three to finish at 35-under-par, finishing ten strokes ahead of second-placed Michigan and 22 strokes ahead of third-placed Missouri.
The Golden Flashes will return to action on September 29 at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The prestigious event will also feature the Kent State women's golf team.
