
Six Golden Flashes Earn Top-20 Honors at Blessings Collegiate Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Kent State Herb Page men's golf team and Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team wrapped up the Blessings Collegiate Invitational with round three contested on Wednesday. The Golden Flashes women secured a runner-up team finish, while six individuals across both teams earned top-20 finishes.
The women fired an 8-over-par 296 on Wednesday to hold steady at second place, ultimately concluding at 28-over-par. Host Arkansas used a dominant performance on the team's home course to post an 8-under-par 54-hole score and claim the tournament championship. The Flashes finished seven strokes ahead of third-placed Mississippi State, which was ranked No. 15 in the most recent Women's Golf Coaches Association Division I Coaches' Poll. On the men's side, the Golden Flashes closed the event in eighth place after carding a 25-over-par 309 in round three to end at 50-over-par. Arkansas also claimed the men's team championship at the Blessings Golf Course, finishing 17 strokes ahead of runner-up Louisville with a 3-under-par 54-hole score.
Gracie Larsen wrapped up what has been her best tournament of the Fall thus far with the first top-five finish of her sophomore season. The reigning MAC Freshman of the Year fired a 3-over-par 75 on Wednesday to secure Kent State's lowest 54-hole score of the tournament at 4-over-par. Larsen's 12 birdies across the tournament were the third most among the 55 women's golfers competing, helping her to a fifth-place finish, the second top-five finish of her career.
Isabella Goyette posted Kent State's low score of the day to climb into the top ten of the final individual standings on Wednesday. The 2025 All-MAC First Teamer recorded four birdies to just two bogeys en route to a 2-under-par 70, her fourth round of par or better this season. At 7-over-par overall, Goyette finishes the Blessings Collegiate in ninth place, the third top-ten finish of her career.
Aryn Matthews was the third Golden Flash to secure an individual spot in the top ten after round three. The sophomore fired a 5-over-par 77 to conclude the event in tenth place at 8-over-par, her best finish of the young season. Leon Takagi followed closely, narrowly missing out on a top-ten finish of her own after tying for 11th place. The lone senior on Kent State's roster recorded a 2-over-par 74 in round three, the second-best Flashes' women's score of the day, to conclude at 9-over-par.
On the men's side of the event, Nolan Haynes earned the best finish of his career, tying for 11th place among the 55 men's golfers competing. The sophomore's 4-over-par 76 was the best score of the day for the Kent State men, propelling him to a 6-over-par 54-hole finish and his second top-20 placement of the season.
Freshman Liam Curtis secured the first top-20 finish of his collegiate career on Wednesday, firing a 5-over-par 77 in round three. With a season-best 8-over-par 54-hole score of 224, Curtis notched a tie for 20th place at the Blessings Collegiate, the second-best finish for the Kent State men. Isaiah Ibit did not finish far behind Curtis, recording a 6-over-par 78 in round three to close the event at 13-over-par and tied for 27th place.
The Golden Flashes men will have a quick turnaround, as the team heads to the Fighting Irish Collegiate on Monday, October 6. The squad's penultimate event of the Fall will be held at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana.
The Kent State women's team will have a few weeks before the return to action for their Fall season finale at the Landfall Tradition. The event set for Friday, October 24, will take place at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.
