AURORA, Ontario – Veronika Kedronova tallied the fourth individual win of her collegiate career on Tuesday at the Canadian Collegiate, as the Flashes claimed a runner-up finish among a loaded field at Beacon Hall Golf Course. The Golden Flashes fired a 3-under-par 285 in Monday's second round to close the event at 10-under-par, one of just two teams to finish with a 36-hole score under par.
The Auburn Tigers surged on Tuesday with a 12-under-par 276 in round two to be the only team to finish ahead of the Flashes at 16-under-par. Kent State claims a second-place finish in a field that consisted of eight power conference schools and six teams ranked in NBC Sports' preseason top 40 rankings. Now three events into the season, the Golden Flashes have earned three consecutive top-three team finishes, highlighted by a team victory at the Wolverine Invitational.
Kedronova earned her first win of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, closing out the Canadian Collegiate with a 2-under-par 70. At 8-under-par after 36 holes, the star junior claimed first place over a field of 65 golfers. Kedronova also led the field with 12 birdies in the tournament. After matching a career low with a 66 on Monday, her second-round 70 marks the 33rd round of par or better in her decorated collegiate career.
Leon Takagi closed out her third consecutive top-five finish to begin her final collegiate season on Tuesday. The senior from Japan carded an even-par 72 to remain at 3-under-par through 36 holes, tying for fifth at the Canadian Collegiate. Takagi now owns six top-five finishes in her collegiate career and boasts 26 rounds of par or better.
The third Kent State golfer to finish the Canadian Collegiate under par and in the top ten was Isabella Goyette. The Medina, Ohio native fired a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday to conclude at 1-under-par, good enough to tie for eighth place, the second-best finish of her collegiate career behind a runner-up placement at the MAC Championship in April.
Aryn Matthews posted a strong second round on Tuesday to climb 11 spots into the top 20 of the final individual standings at the Canadian Collegiate. The Ontario native showed out on home soil, carding a 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday to climb to a final mark of 2-over-par and tied for 19th place. Matthews claims her seventh career top 20 finish with her ninth career round of par or better in round two.
The Golden Flashes will have a quick turnaround, as the team returns to action at the prestigious Blessings Collegiate Invitational, set to begin on Monday, September 29. Kent State's men's golf program will also compete in the event.
