
Flashes Women Soar in Day Two of Blessings Collegiate Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Kent State Herb Page men's golf team and Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team continued the Blessings Collegiate Invitational with round two on Tuesday. The Golden Flashes women had a strong day on the course, firing a 2-over-par 290 to climb up to second place among the ten teams competing. On the men's side, Nolan Haynes and Liam Curtis used strong individual rounds to climb into the top ten, despite the team dropping to seventh with a 15-over-par 303.
At 20-over-par through 36 holes, the women trail only Arkansas, which has put up an impressive performance on the Razorbacks' home course to build a hefty 21-stroke lead at 1-under-par. Arkansas' men's team also holds the 36-hole advantage at 6-over-par, a seven-stroke advantage over second-placed Louisville. The Golden Flashes men are in seventh at 29-over-par through two rounds.
Gracie Larsen and Aryn Matthews each fired 1-under-par rounds of 71 on Tuesday to rise into the top ten of the women's individual standings after 36 holes. Larsen is tied for fifth place at 1-over-par overall, while Matthews is in eighth place at 3-over-par. Leon Takagi and Isabella Goyette are also in the top 20 after round two. Takagi posted a 1-over-par 73 and is now tied for 13th at 7-over-par. Goyette recorded a 3-over-par 75 in round two and is tied for 18th place with 18 holes remaining.
The Kent State men were led by impressive rounds from Haynes and Curtis on Tuesday. Haynes posted birdies on five of his first ten holes en route to a 1-under-par 71. A Sophomore from Barberton, Ohio, Haynes is tied for sixth place at the end of round two with a 36-hole score of 2-over-par. He is seeking the first top-ten finish of his collegiate career during Wednesday's final round.
Competing in the third collegiate tournament of his career, Curtis is also in the hunt for a top-ten finish on Wednesday after firing a 1-over-par 73 in Tuesday's second round. The Kent, Ohio, native is tied for ninth place at 3-over-par with 18 holes to play. Isaiah Ibit is tied for 22nd place entering round three on Wednesday after falling to 7-over-par with a 79 in round two.
The Golden Flashes will wrap up the Blessings Collegiate Invitational with round three on Wednesday morning. The men will tee off from hole no. 10 at 9:30 a.m., while the women set off from hole no. 1 at 10:45 a.m.
