
Men Place Second at 2026 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Kent State finished second in the team standings at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded on Saturday.
The Golden Flashes totaled 141 over the meet's 17 events and totaled three golds and five silvers during the second day of competition.
Ayden Bath was the second highest scoring athlete of the meeting and earned 21 points over three events. Bath was dominant in winning his second career heptathlon gold and totaled 5,596 points, which was 647 more than the runner-up. He opened Saturday with a personal-best time of 7.79 in the 60-meter hurdles, which puts him third on Kent State's all-time performance list. A few hours later in the open 60m hurdles, Bath clocked a time of 7.95 seconds for second place. He also tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of 6'-5".
Baidy Ba also earned both gold and silver medals on Saturday. Ba stood atop the podium for the 3,000-meter run after recording a time of 8:08.37. He ran the mile in 4:09.18 for second place earlier in the day.
After breaking the meet and school records during the prelims on Friday, Sean Callahan Jr. won the 60-meter dash in 6.68 seconds. Jacob Stanley was second across the finish line in 6.77 seconds.
Ryan Gruss finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.86 seconds and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that placed second in 3:17.74. Gruss was joined by Beau Harkelroad, Micah Coates and Owen Miller in the relay race. Harkelroad (49.68) and Coates (49.80) also scored in the 400-meter dash and placed fourth and sixth, respectively.
Dylan McBride took second in the 800-meter run and crossed the finish line in 1:53.03. Preston Rieger ran a time of 1:55.47 to finish sixth and add one point to the team score.
Jack Dillen had a strong second day in the heptathlon and climbed three spots to place third. Only Bath totaled more points on the day than Dillen, who recorded 4,732 over the seven events. Linkon Tyrrell was close behind with 4,707 points and placed fourth.
Zamen Siyoum was third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.04 seconds.
Charles Pawlosky had a top throw of 53'-3" to place fourth in the shot put.
Chaz Sakala (22.14) and Zavion Mattox (22.27) finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 200m.
