SUNSET, S.C. – The Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team maintained its 11th-place standing during the second round of the Clemson Invitational on Saturday, following consistent play from the top three finishers.
Veronika Kedronová carded a 1-over-par 73 to remain in the top 10. Kedronová opened the day with two consecutive bogeys and two double bogeys on the round, but countered with five birdies and her fourth eagle of the season on the par-5 No. 2.
Isabella Goyette carded a 2-over-par 74 to remain in 22nd place. Goyette gave back two shots on the first nine, bogeying the starting No. 10 before evening out at par at No. 15, but added two bogeys before the turn. On the second nine, Goyette carded her third even-par nine of the tournament.
Leon Takagi matched Goyette's 2-over-par 74, carding a birdie and two bogeys on each nine. Takagi sank the earliest birdie for the team on No. 12 before bogeying Nos. 16 and 17. On the second nine, Takagi inverted the scoring, bogeying Nos. 1 and 4 before birdieing No. 6.
Petra Babicová shot a third straight 38 on the first nine of the day, building on her performance from round one, but a double bogey on No. 3 led to a 3-over-par 39 on the second nine for a 5-over-par 77.
Gracie Larsen carded matching 39s en route to a 6-over-par 78 on the day.
Kent State sits at 14-over-par through two rounds, with Florida leading the tournament at 11-under-par. The Golden Flashes enter the final round nine shots back of fifth-place Ohio State at 5-over-par. Individually, Kedronová sits at 2-under-par, seven shots back of Vanderbilt's Lynn Lim.
