SUNSET, S.C. – The Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team closed the Clemson Invitational on a high note Sunday, climbing four spots in the final round behind a 287 to finish seventh at 877 (+13) at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
The Golden Flashes sent a trio of golfers home inside the top 25, led by Veronika Kedronová, who was the only Kent State golfer to finish under par for the tournament.
Kedronová turned in a steady 1-under 71 in the final round, picking up birdies on Nos. 11, 13 and 6 while limiting the damage to bogeys on Nos. 12 and 4. Her three-round total of 213 (-3) marked her best 54-hole score of the spring, earning her a tie for seventh.
Leon Takagi made the biggest move on day three, firing a 2-under 70 — the lowest round by a Kent State golfer on Sunday. Takagi found birdies on Nos. 15, 2 and 5, with her only blemish a bogey on No. 3, climbing into a tie for 25th at 219 (+3).
Isabella Goyette matched Takagi at 219 (+3) to round out the top-25 trio. Goyette's final round was perhaps the most eventful of the group, with 12 non-par holes on her card. Five of those were birdies — on Nos. 3, 5, 6, 13 and 18 — though six bogeys and a double bogey kept her at 1-over 73 on the day.
Petra Babicová posted four birdies in her final round but was undone by three bogeys and a double bogey for a 73, finishing at 226 (+10) in a tie for 57th.
Gracie Larsen rounded out the lineup with a 77 on the day, finishing the tournament at 236 (+20) in 83rd.
