COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 30 Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team closed the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational in third place at 30-over 894, capping a three-round run at Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course highlighted by a fourth-place individual finish from Isabella Goyette.
Goyette closed the tournament at 3-over 219 after a 1-over 73 in Saturday morning's final round, finishing alone in fourth place and pacing the Flashes for a second consecutive day. Goyette opened her round with a clean-sheet front nine, building on the momentum of Friday's second round 2-under 70 that had moved her into contention. Her 54-hole total of 219 finished three strokes clear of a three-way tie for fifth that included two nationally ranked individuals from Iowa State.
Veronika Kedronová posted an even-par 72 - the low round of the day for Kent State - balancing three birdies against three bogeys to climb 23 spots into a tie for 23rd at 14-over 230. Leon Takagi, playing in her final regular-season tournament as a Golden Flash, finished 18th at 10-over 226 after an 8-over 80 in the final round. Petra Babicová carded a 5-over 77 to sit 20th at 12-over 228, while Aryn Matthews rounded out the Kent State lineup in 41st at 21-over 237.
Kent State fired a 2-over 290 in Friday afternoon's second round - the low team round of the entire tournament - to climb from sixth into second, sitting just three strokes back of host Ohio State entering the final 18 holes. The Flashes carded a 14-over 302 in Saturday's closing round to hold the podium, finishing nine strokes ahead of No. 40 Michigan State.
No. 36 Ohio State claimed the team title at 26-over 890, with No. 25 Iowa State taking second at 28-over 892.
