Flashes Conclude Action at Northeast Ohio Open as Competition Continues in Georgia

Spec Towns Invite Results

Competition concluded at the Northeast Ohio Open on Friday as Kent State continued its first split-squad weekend of the outdoor seasons. The Golden Flashes will continue action at the University of Georgia's Spec Towns Invitational on Saturday.

Linkon Tyrrell totaled 6,721 points to place fourth in his first decathlon. The 100-meter dash was Tyrrell's best event with a time of 11.27 seconds for 801 points.

In the heptathlon, Matilde Carboncini led the way with 5,091 points for eighth place. Alexa Nestor recorded a personal-best 4,772 points to finish 12th.

Luigi Case posted a season-best mark of 24'0.25" for seventh in the men's long jump. Amare Hall was right behind in eighth with a jump of 23'-1.25".

Marinna Atanmo led the Golden Flashes in running events by placing ninth in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Atanmo's personal-best time of 1:00.26 ranks as the eighth fastest in program history.

Kent State had a strong showing in the men's 200-meter dash, as Sean Callahan Jr. (21.35), Chaz Sakala (21.39) and Zavion Mattox (21.40) claimed the 11th-13th positions.

Northeast Ohio Open
Camille Dunifer and Destiny Nash won events during the two-day meet hosted by the University of Akron. Dunifer was the first across the finish line in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.57, and Ana Fernandez Moiron was close behind in 2:19.95 for second. Nash won the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.59.

Beau Harkelroad placed in the top three in both men's hurdles races. Harkelroad finished second in the 400m hurdles in 56.15 seconds and third in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.59 seconds. Jack Dillen finished just ahead of him in the 110m hurdles and placed second in 14.52 seconds.
