
Track and Field Back in Action at Virginia Challenge

The Kent State track and field program will travel to the Virginia Challenge this weekend. Competition officially begins with the men's and women's javelin throw on Thursday evening. The remaining events will be split between Friday and Saturday.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
The Golden Flashes have 27 total student-athletes entered in the meet, including two who have top-100 national rankings. Kristen Jay ranks 45th in the women's javelin throw (164' 6") and Baidy Ba sits 82nd in the men's 5,000-meter run (school record 13:59.99).
Beau Harkelroad and Matilde Morbin lead the rest of this week's entrants. Harkelroad is the Mid-American Conference leader in the men's 400-meter hurdles (53.62) and Morbin is third in the MAC in the women's javelin (142'-9).
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
The Flashes will sent athletes to two meets next weekend. The majority of the team will compete at the University of Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational on April 23-25, while a group of throwers will head to the Ashland Alumni Open on April 24-25.
